The French restaurant ranking La Liste has once again named the 1,000 best dining establishments worldwide this year. Among the top 10 is a German restaurant. Franconia features further down the list with two restaurants from Nuremberg.
Germany among the frontrunners
A total of 74 restaurants from Germany are featured on the list. Together with nine other establishments, the Schwarzwaldstube in Baiersbronn shares the top spot. The restaurant in the Freudenstadt district of Baden-Württemberg scored 99.5 out of 100 possible points. The Aqua restaurant in Wolfsburg secured a place in the second-highest rating category. Both restaurants delivered similarly strong performances last year and are also distinguished with Michelin stars and other accolades.
Nuremberg venues feature in la liste ranking
Two restaurants from Nuremberg have also made it into the top 1,000 restaurants worldwide. "Essigbrätlein" shares 684th place with five other establishments. The restaurant scored 85 out of 100 points, an increase of 1.5 points compared to the previous year. A few ranks lower, the Nuremberg restaurant "etz" is listed. It shares 759th place with five other international venues. The tavern earned 83.5 points, improving by one point from the year before.

These are the restaurants from Nuremberg
For many years, „Essigbrätlein“ has held two Michelin stars, ranking it among Germany’s finest restaurants. Located in the old town of Nuremberg, the establishment focuses primarily on Franconian ingredients and is considered a pioneer of modern vegetable cuisine. The restaurant „etz“ also boasts two Michelin stars and has been awarded the „Green Star“ for sustainability and mindful cooking. Like „Essigbrätlein,“ „etz“ emphasizes regional and, above all, seasonal produce. Recently, the renowned Falstaff magazine honored both of these gastronomic establishments alongside many others from across Franconia and the surrounding region.

France leads the ranking with the strongest presence
Among the entire list of 1,350 restaurants, France is the strongest represented with 118 establishments, followed by Japan (114) and the USA (106). The ranking by "La Liste" is based on scores from restaurant guides and online user reviews, with guide ratings weighted at 90 percent and user critiques at 10 percent. Overall, only restaurants scoring above 75 out of a maximum of 100 points make it onto the list. What "La Liste" shares with other guides is that multiple restaurants can achieve the same score - and consequently all claim to be number one.
