Memmingen - Bad news for travelers: low-cost airline Ryanair is making significant cuts to its winter flight schedule. Several airports in Germany are affected, with one airport in Bavaria being hit the hardest.

This is unpleasant news three weeks before the start of the fall break in Bavaria: Ryanair is canceling a significant number of flights in Germany—and one airport in Bavaria is also affected.

The airline has told the aviation website airliners that there will be significant cuts to its winter flight schedule almost everywhere in Germany, without going into further detail. At least the fall break should be safe. The changes to the flight schedule are not expected to take effect until the end of November or beginning of December. There will be no cancellations over Christmas, but they will resume in January.

According to information from airliners, Memmingen Airport is expected to be particularly hard hit by the cuts. Ryanair could cancel up to 27 of its weekly flights there, which would correspond to around a quarter of its planned winter schedule.

The airports in Berlin and Cologne are also affected by the cancellations. The savings are apparently related to the dispute over location costs in Germany. Ryanair is demanding that the federal government reduce fees and taxes. The coalition agreement contained a corresponding declaration of intent, but this has not yet been put into practice—the measures are subject to financing. Ryanair could be trying to put pressure on politicians with the cancellations.
