Nürnberg - Foreign objects have been found in jarred tomato paste during a food inspection. Consumption could cause serious internal injuries.

According to a statement by DEPO Food und Nonfood Handels GmbH, the product „Domates Salcasi“ from the Turkish manufacturer Namli was flagged during a food inspection. Glass fragments were discovered in the tomato paste. For reasons of precautionary consumer protection, the company launched a recall on February 5.

The affected batch is L011, with a best-before date of December 1, 2027. DEPO Food und Nonfood Handels GmbH urgently advises customers who have purchased this product not to consume it and to return it to the point of sale. The purchase price will be refunded even without a receipt.

According to lebensmittelwarnung.de, the recall primarily affects North Rhine-Westphalia, but the product has also been available through various online retailers. It cannot be ruled out that it was sold, for example, in a Turkish supermarket in Bavaria or Franconia.
