Around 5 p.m., patrol officers from the Aschaffenburg police had to respond to a suspected threat on Würzburger Straße. The cause: a 78-year-old man was attending a consultation at an insurance office when he suddenly pulled out a gun.
The employees of the insurance office felt threatened, sought safety, and called the police. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found the elderly man who still had the weapon with him. The responders quickly determined that it was a toy gun - albeit one that “looked very realistic,” according to a press release from the police headquarters of Unterfranken.
When asked by the officers about the reason behind his actions, the 78-year-old explained that he had intended to make a joke. However, this could now have consequences for the man: The police are investigating on suspicion of making a threat.
