WALDSASSEN, LKR. TIRSCHENREUTH - A 67-year-old shot a 64-year-old man in his own apartment on Thursday morning. Police are investigating, and the motive remains unclear.

On Thursday, December 4, a homicide occurred in Weiden in Upper Palatinate, according to police reports. As stated in a police briefing, the incident took place around 8 a.m. in Waldsassen, district of Tirschenreuth, where a 64-year-old man was shot dead in his apartment.

A 67-year-old man from Waldsassen is now under suspicion. After the incident, the suspect voluntarily went to the Waldsassen police station and turned himself in to the officers. He was taken into provisional custody.

The Weiden in the Upper Palatinate public prosecutor’s office is leading the investigation, which is being carried out by the Weiden in the Upper Palatinate criminal police. Extensive forensic work is currently underway at the scene. The motive for the crime remains unclear and is the subject of ongoing inquiries.
