Menlo Park - Without much advance notice, Meta is changing the design of the WhatsApp messaging platform. Here’s what users can expect when they look at their smartphones.

The WhatsApp messenger app can be found on almost every smartphone, so the upcoming design change will affect numerous users.

According to consistent media reports, Meta is currently testing a version of the WhatsApp messenger app with a new design on individual users and in the public version. The user interface therefore appears in a new look for some users, with transparent effects and flowing animations. According to media reports, a particularly striking feature is a transparent menu bar that blends into the background. Meta has not yet officially confirmed the redesign.

The visual impression may already be familiar to some users. Apple had already rolled out these effects under the name Liquid Glass with the new iOS update. User feedback on this was mixed. Not everyone was satisfied with the new look.

It is not yet known when the new WhatsApp design will be rolled out to all users. This could happen gradually in the near future.
